I called The Netherlands home for more than 20 years. And would still do it if fate would not have moved me to Norway. I lived in and loved Den Haag, and especially Scheveningen where my center was. I loved being on the sea, the wonderful fresh air every morning when I took my dog out. The long walks on the beach when I was allowed to take him there. But there are things I needed to get used to as a German. Let me tell you about it.

Scheveningen - the beach resort of Den Haag

Located as the most western part of Den Haag, Scheveningen is one of the best known beach resorts of The Netherlands. Having kilometers of sandy beach, tons of restaurants, and a working but still touristy harbour, it is the target for thousands of tourists and day-trippers. But to measure Scheveningen just by the beach will not give it credit. Here are three things you need to do when visiting the place.

If there is one place I would seriously avoid when travelling to The Netherlands, then it would be Amsterdam. There are things to see, but in general: I prefer the other side of The Netherlands.
